KAWARTHA LAKES: On Sept. 6th, at 9:05 a.m., Kawartha Lakes Police, Fire and Paramedic Services responded to the Lindsay Airport, for a report of a plane crash.
Police attended and located the pilot and a passenger, who were tended to, and transported by Paramedic Services to a Lindsay area hospital. Both suffered minor injuries.
The two had been flying in a light aircraft that left the runway and began to gain altitude. When the plane reached approximately 1000 feet, the plane began to lose power.
The pilot attempted to turn the aircraft 180 degrees to return to the runway, but was unable to do so, before making ground fall. The aircraft struck a fence, shearing off a portion of the landing gear, and came to rest in a ditch off of the runway. The reason for the power loss is still under investigation.
