SCUGOG: Scugog council has asked township staff to look into the cost of possibly repairing or reconstructing Spring Blvd. on Scugog Island, in 2018, and to have a report ready for the 2018 municipal capital budget deliberations.
Ward 2 Councillor, Janna Guido made that motion at a meeting, on Monday, October 23rd.
“I really feel strongly that there is something that we need to do for Spring Blvd., and I think this is the appropriate time to start these discussions, as we are entering into the budget process,” Councillor Guido said.
Repair of Spring Blvd. was previously discussed at the October 2nd meeting. At that time, councillors were told, because of the long list, of what director of community services Carol Coleman called “now needs”, Spring Blvd. was not on the top of the township’s road work priority list.
However, at the October 23rd meeting director Coleman noted council could try an interim solution, because of the “potential for future development in that area.”
She also gave an approximate cost of $215,000 for that interim solution.
Council expects to see a draft copy of the capital budget, at a meeting, on Monday, November 6th.
