SCUGOG: A 27 year-old Scugog man was charged by Durham Region Police after stealing three vehicles on the same day, after being spotted by citizens in the Township.
According to police, on Thursday, January 11th, at about 6:45 a.m., citizens called police, to report a suspected impaired driver in the area of Highway 12 and Cragg Rd. Officers were able to locate the vehicle, and it was determined that the vehicle involved was stolen from an address in Scugog. The driver was arrested without incident.
Further investigation by police revealed the suspect was responsible for a break, enter and theft to a residence in the Thickson Rd. and Dryden Boulevard area of Whitby, which occurred that same morning. A vehicle was also stolen at this time.
The suspect crashed this vehicle in the area of Highway 12 and Scugog Line 14 in Sunderland and obtained another vehicle, left unoccupied but warming up, nearby. The suspect then crashed this vehicle nearby and again stole the third vehicle in the area, which was the one in which he was finally located.
Tyler Cameron is facing 3 counts of theft of a motor vehicle, 3 counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, a dangerous operation of a motor vehicle charge, a charge of failing to comply with recognizance, a fraud under $5000 charge, Break Enter and Theft charges, as well as other driving-related offences. He was held for a bail hearing.
