SCUGOG: A 33-year-old Scugog man is facing charges, after he was caught speeding while driving an ATV on a main roadway, on Sunday, June 19.
According to police, at approximately 10:18 p.m., an officer travelling along Hood Rd., between Goose Rd. and Island Rd. on Scugog Island, observed an ATV, travelling on the road at a high rate of speed.
When the officer attempted to pull the ATV over, it made a u-turn and sped away. The officer followed the vehicle, which continued to drive erratically and at high speed, but lost sight of the ATV near a wooded area.
A K-9 Unit attended the area and PSD Hemmi was able to track the ATV to an open area, where it was found with the driver’s wallet inside. Officers attended the residence on the driver’s license and arrested the male suspect. He physically resisted and threatened the officers as they affected the arrest.
Peter Godfrey is charged with: Flight while Pursued; Uttering Threats; Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest and Counselling an Indictable Offence. He was later released on a Promise to Appear.
