NORTH DURHAM: Recent meetings between the three local mayors are paving the way for residents to be able to watch the proceedings of North Durham Council meetings on-line through live streaming.
This past Monday (March 22) at Uxbridge Council’s weekly meeting, Mayor Gerri Lynn O’Connor mentioned the recent meeting between herself, Brock Mayor John Grant and Scugog’s Tom Rowett investigating the possibility of live-streaming future council and committee meetings.
“My preference is to go live, but we don’t have the same options as the south [South Durham]”, said Mayor O’Connor. Live-streaming of council meetings is currently an option in several municipalities including: Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington, as well as Durham Regional Council available through either on-line or through RogersTV. The three northern municipalities are currently looking for viable options to serve the area. According to Mayor O’Connor, the three North Durham mayors are set to meet again on the matter very soon.
