SCUGOG: The annual Durham Ride for Dad will be returning to Scugog this Saturday, June 10th.
This will be the sixth time the fundraiser for Prostate Cancer has used the Scugog Community Recreation Centre as a venue.
Executive Chair of the Durham Chapter of the ride, Lou Ann Young told Scugog Councillors, at a meeting on Monday, May 29th, she hopes to have about 300 riders take part in the event this year.
“We ended up with 180 riders last year. Even though we had 100 less riders than the year before, we only raised $3,000 less, we still, last year, raised $42,000 in pledges,” Ms. Young said.
There will be holding pre-registration at the Scugog Community Centre, on Friday, June 9th, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Registration will also run, from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., the day of the event.
The opening ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. Participants will then leave the Scugog Community Centre at 10 a.m. and parade through Port Perry, before setting off on a poker run. Riders will then return to Port Perry for prizes and a barbecue.
