NORTH DURHAM: Trinity United Church in Uxbridge is holding the 46th Annual Tour of Homes this Saturday, June 4 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Trinity United Church or at any of the tour homes. Tea and cookies are included. Please bring your own slippers.
The ‘Tour of Homes’ event raises funds for various community support projects throughout North Durham including, the food bank, North Durham Affordable Housing, the Sunrise Pregnancy Center, and various other programs including raising funds for the planned arrival of a Syrian refugee family to Uxbridge.
The Tour of Homes is an opportunity for the public to draw inspiration from various diverse and interesting homes in the area. Trinity United Uxbridge went out of their way to find different and unique homes for this year’s tour. “We always try to feature places where people have put a great deal of themselves into their homes,” said Corinne Croxall of the Trinity United UCW House Tour Committee.
This year, the tour will include a bed and breakfast with a studio, and a beautiful 160-acre property in Utica that will open their doors to guests for the second time during the ‘Tour of Homes’.
The Standard was honoured to get a full tour of Mr. and Mrs. Stait-Gardner’s home and property to get a feel for what the public can expect come the weekend.
“Me and my husband have a large extended family and we love to garden and add new things for our grandchildren to enjoy,” Mrs. Stait-Gardner told The Standard. Their home and property features a sprawling view of the Oak Ridges Moraine stretching as far as the eye can see, beautiful ponds, saunas and various gardens and garden fixtures spread throughout the property that viewers can draw inspiration from. “A lot of me and my husband’s inspiration is drawn from my families Latvian background as well as my husband’s English background. He loves to study his ancestry,” said Mrs. Stait-Gardner.
