SCUGOG: The third Annual Heart Rally, held by the Heart and Stroke Foundation to prepare for Heart Month in February will be held at the Scugog Memorial Public Library this Thursday, Jan. 7.
The goal of the rally is to bring in new volunteers, as well as inspire current volunteers and canvassers for the fundraising campaign titled ‘Create More Survivors’.
Zone leader Judy Anderson explained that there are many reasons to support the annual February campaign.
“In the big picture, we support research and the research has been amazing. We want to continue that,” she said. “Locally, we place AED defibrillators at many local places. Everybody is affected. We all know people with a heart issue or who have had a stroke, we just need to keep fighting it.”
Ms. Anderson also added that the fundraising goal for this year’s campaign remains the same as past years, being set at $20,000.
The rally will be held from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. The library is located at 231 Water St., Port Perry.
