UXBRIDGE: Plans are currently underway to launch a new club in Uxbridge for people 55 years of age or older who are retired, or semi-retired.
According to a press release, the goal of the Probus (Professional Business) club would be to “provide fun social activities, interest groups, [and] stimulating guest speakers” for those people who fit into that category.
The idea of launching a Probus club in Uxbridge comes after a Probus Club in Port Perry has seen a lot of success.
“We started a club in Port Perry, and it was originally supposed to be for Port Perry and Uxbridge, and it ended up being made up mainly of Port Perry residents. We thought we should have a club in Uxbridge since [the one in Port Perry] was so successful so quickly,” Jayne Rees told The Standard. “I don’t think there is anything like it in Uxbridge. I think [Uxbridge] is big enough to have [its own club].”
She later added there is a “need” for a club like this in Uxbridge.
An information meeting will be held, on April 4th, at 10 a.m. The location for the meeting has not yet been decided. For those looking to become a member of the club, to attend the information meeting, or who are looking for more information, email email@example.com.
