NORTH DURHAM: As the new Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter closes in on their 1-million dollar fundraising total, a few events are coming to the North Durham area to help raise money.
On Sunday, May 15, Old Flame Brewery in Port Perry and Second Wedge Brewery in Uxbridge are both hosting “Pooch and a Pint”. For only $10, the public is welcome to enjoy a pint of beer, accompanied by their dog. The on-site dark park will be open from 11 am until 4 pm.
All money raised goes straight to the new Animal Shelter. Visit both breweries for a chance to win merchandise. Both breweries are excited to see who will raise the most money.
Saturday, May 28 features two fundraising events. New Animal Shelter volunteer Lisa Streets is organizing the “Raining Cats & Dogs” event, a rain barrel sale where all profits will go to our charity. Rain barrels are available in a variety of colours and range from $60 to $80, which the group says is “significantly less than the average retail price.”
Pre-orders can be made at www.rainbarrel.ca/uxbridge-scugog or pay with cash when picking up the rain barrel from the Uxbridge Arena on May 28, from 8 am to 12 pm. Latest date for pre-orders is May 21.
A terracotta rain barrel is currently on display at Pet Valu Uxbridge. For any questions or if you are not comfortable ordering online, contact Lisa by email at: email@example.com or by phone at: 416-951-5231.
Also taking place on Saturday, May 28 is the “2016 Mutt Strut Walk-athon.” Take a walk through the Trails of Uxbridge with your dog all while raising money for the new Animal Shelter. Remember to bring a leash with you. The walk and free barbeque goes from 11 am to 2 pm. Prizes will also be handed out.
