KAWARTHA LAKES: The City of Kawartha Lakes provides an opportunity for the public to have it’s voice heard, regarding planning and building approvals in the city. The City's 'Planning Approvals Task Force' is hosting two more 'Open Houses.' They are a chance for residents to discuss in small groups, the current planning process, and make suggestions on enhancements for the future.
The two additional open houses are on, Wednesday, July 13, at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., in the Victoria Room at City Hall, in Lindsay and Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Coronation Hall, 1 King St. West, Omemee.
Following the Open Houses, the Planning Approvals Task Force will use the feedback provided by the public, and take the message to City Council, with the objective of recommending these approval process improvements, to accommodate and facilitate targeted development within the City.
The Task Force has also posted a public satisfaction survey, to the City’s website. It can be found at, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QBJGJ35. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, July 31, 2016. The short, eight question survey, asks questions regarding the public’s interactions with The City of Kawartha Lakes Development Services Department and Building Division.
The City of Kawartha Lakes Planning Approvals Task Force is volunteer, appointed by City Council. The main aims of the Task Force are, “identifying barriers and limitations in the current planning approval process, improving and streamlining the building permit process, with emphasis on established standards and requirements, that are clear to the public.”
The Task Force meets regularly, on the third Tuesday, of every month, in the Victoria Room, at City Hall. The next regular Planning Approvals Task Force meeting is on, Tuesday, July 19, at 10:00 a.m.
