DURHAM: A 59-year-old Beaverton female was fatally injured, after being struck by a motor vehicle on Regional Road 23, near Thorah Concession Road 7, in the Town of Beaverton.
On Wednesday July 5th, 2017, at approximately 3:27 p.m., officers from North Division were called to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. A grey Buick Regal was northbound on Regional Road 23 from Beaverton, approaching Thorah Concession Road 7, when it struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the roadway.
Several witnesses stopped to render assistance to the injured pedestrian.
The 92-year-old driver of the involved Buick remained on scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
Emergency services provided medical assistance to the 59-year-old victim, despite their best efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
