KAWARTHA: Local MP Jamie Schmale was pleased to join Northumberland-Peterborough South MP Kim Rudd to announce over $330,000.00 to four different organizations, through Intake Two, of the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150).
“Infrastructure investments help with long-term, sustainable economic growth in our municipalities,” said Schmale. “Funding these important community assets will leave a lasting legacy that will contribute to our celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation.”
In total, $333,888.00 was announced for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock.
The Municipality of Highlands East will receive $23,888.00 for improvements. The Curling Club YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford will receive $100,000.00, for the rehabilitation of Camp Wanakita in Haliburton; the County of Haliburton will receive $100,000.00, to repair the Howland Junction Bridge on the Haliburton Rail Trail; and The Academy Theatre Foundation will receive $110,000.00 for rehabilitation of the Academy Theatre’s seating.
“These types of projects with long-term benefits are perfectly suited to Canada150 funding,” added Schmale. “I look forward to working on behalf of constituents to ensure Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock continues to receive funding for projects like these throughout the region.”

• Over the coming weeks, local announcements for projects approved through Intake Two of the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program in southern Ontario will be taking place.
• The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program is a $300-million national program, which is being delivered by regional development agencies across the country.
