SCUGOG: A local man was airlifted to Sunnybrook hospital after a garbage truck collided with a transport truck in the intersection of Hwy 12 and Reach St., on Thursday, January 26th.
The driver of the garbage truck was catapulted from his cab, landing on the road, suffering extensive damage to his legs and minor damage to his head and neck.
According to Kerry Schmidt of the Ontario Provincial Police, the garbage truck was heading westbound on Reach St., at about 7 a.m., when it collided with a northbound transport truck.
Police say that the driver of the transport truck came away from the scene without serious injuries.
Sections of Hwy 12 and Reach St. were closed for hours while police investigated. As of press time, no charges have yet been laid.
