NORTH DURHAM: The Scugog Animal Control Centre has recently released its 2018 Pet Calendar, featuring images of animals at the shelter, and has submitted pictures of people’s pets from the community.
The calendars are $10 each, and the proceeds raised go directly towards supporting the animal shelter.
Animal Control Officer, Emily Gerber said, “The money raised helps us spay, neuter, vaccinate, and perform any sort of special medical procedures that we may need to do, when we get injured stray animals at the shelter.”
The pet calendar was a joint effort, supported by Port Perry Print and the Township of Uxbridge.
According to Emily, both organizations got involved because they wanted to help the local animal shelter that serves Scugog and Uxbridge.
The calendars feature all the pictures of pets, submitted by the community, and is a great way to see some local cats and dogs, from the area.
Emily said, “All of the entries, mostly, come from people in Uxbridge and Scugog.”
The calendars are currently available in Port Perry, from the Animal Control Centre, at 1360 Reach Street, from Port Perry Print at 201 North Street, and from Paulmac’s at 1894 Scugog Street. In Uxbridge, the calendars can be purchased from Pet Value, at 4 Banff Road, and from the Township of Uxbridge’s Municipal Office, at 51 Toronto Street South.
The shelter is happy to start selling the calendars, and is thankful for all the sponsors and organizations who helped with this initiative.
Emily said, “it’s just a good fundraiser to help the animals here, and you get a nice calendar to put on your wall for the year.”
Emily told the Standard they are hoping to get lots of participation in the 2019 calendar, to make the fundraiser an even bigger success.
