UXBRIDGE: A sure sign of summer is this weekend’s Gardens of Uxbridge Tour, hosted by Community Care Durham, which returns for a 19th year on Saturday, July 11.
Running from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., the self-guided tour features a variety of gardens from across Uxbridge for visitors to explore.
Once again, the tour will offer gardeners of all ages and abilities to draw inspiration. Even non-gardeners will be able to appreciate the beauty and serenity of the Tour’s featured outdoor spaces.
This annual event allows visitors the chance to explore private gardens that otherwise would not be open to the public, and are chosen by organizers to highlight their diversity in style, size, setting and site conditions. According to organizers, in most cases, the homeowner will be on hand to share experiences, expertise and to answer questions.
Tickets for the Gardens of Uxbridge Tour are $25, and include a delicious box lunch to take on the road or enjoy at the Uxbridge Seniors Centre, located at 75 Marietta St.
Tickets are available by phone at 905-852-7445, or at one of several convenient locations in North Durham: in Uxbridge at Blue Heron Books and the Tin Mill Restaurant in Uxbridge or Branching Out in Port Perry. As well, on July 11, there will be a raffle for a chance to win a great garden-related prize.
All proceeds from the garden tour go to support the programs of Community Care Durham, a multi-service charitable organization offering services to more than 8,000 adults and their caregivers with needs related to aging, physical and/or mental health.
