SCUGOG: The G-Moms of Port Perry are going to be hosting a bird themed event in Uxbridge next month.
At the Birder Murders event, people will have the chance to: listen to author Steve Burrows talk about his Birder Murder book series; take a walk through a scenic forest; see a number of gardens; and watch a documentary titled “A Murder of Crows”. The documentary was made by Susan Fleming, of Uxbridge.
The event will run, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 9th, at a location on Reach St. in Uxbridge. The owner of the location did not want the location publicized, but the address can be found on the tickets.
Tickets are $20 each, and can be bought at Presents, Presents, Presents in Uxbridge, or by calling Judy at 905-471-4651.
G-Moms member, Catherine Walker explained why she thinks people should come out to this event.
“To celebrate our beautiful area, and the local art makers we have here, and to support the Canadian grandmothers who have worked really hard to raise funds to support the Stephen Lewis Foundation,” she said.
The G-Moms of Port Perry are part of the Grandmother to Grandmother campaign, which supports women as well as children in Africa, through the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Their goal is to raise awareness and money to help grandmothers in Africa, who care for children who have been orphaned by AIDS, become self sufficient, and be able to feed and send to school the orphaned they care for.
