UXBRIDGE: The eighth annual Farmers of Uxbridge Information night will be held, at the Uxbridge Arena, later this month.
The event will run, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 31st. Admission to the event is free.
At the information night, people can meet the local farmers, learn about the path food takes from the field to people’s dinner tables, and can purchase food grown locally in the township.
Ward 1 Councillor Pam Beach stressed this is an event not only for adults, but for kids as well.
“A lot of people don’t understand how interconnected the agriculture is to their everyday lives,” she said. “The general public needs to understand where their food comes from and how it gets to their table.”
Councillor Beach explained, a lot of products grown on local farms are used by local businesses in town, such as The Second Wedge Brewing Company using locally grown hops in their beer and a local fishery selling their product to local restaurants.
“I want people to realize how much is being grown locally,” Councillor Beach said.
The Uxbridge Arena is located at 291 Brock St. West. For more information on the event, contact Pam Beach, at 647-467-3105.
