SAM ODROWSKI The Standard
Looking for a Muskoka style vacation without the Muskoka price? Come to Kawartha Lake’s very own Eganridge Resort, Country Club, and Spa.
The heritage estate overlooks the beautiful waters of Sturgeon Lake in the heart of the Trent-Severn Waterway. The resort offers golfing, fishing, boating, and water activities in the summertime as well as snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and horseback riding during the winter. Eganridge also features a state of the art spa, where people can unwind after a day of activities.
The resort’s General Manager, Jason Friedmann said, “It’s great for a quick romantic getaway, whether it be in the winter for snowshoeing, and relaxing by the fire or in the summer while we have access to Sturgeon Lake.”
He added that the resort is only a 30-minute drive from Port Perry, so people who want an all-inclusive vacation, without having to travelling to far from home can come to Eganridge.
“We have the beauty of Muskoka’s or Haliburton without charging Muskoka or Haliburton prices,” Jason said. “You can get away for two nights, on a very inclusive package for under $500 and for one night, you can do it for under $300.”
He told The Standard the resort is fairly small in size and can offer an intimate experience for its guests.
Jason said, “We are 23 rooms, the most we would ever have is 50 or 60 people staying over at one time.”
He added, “It’s a really small intimate and cozy environment, so you get that personal level of service.”
The resort has two upcoming Valentine’s Day dinners that make for perfect evening with a loved one. The dinners feature five courses as well as live acoustic music from Nicole Craig and Lauren McFarlan.
“We have two spectacular local musicians that will really add to the ambience of our dining room,” Jason said.
He told the Standard that the dining room is one of the nicest in the city with over 100 years of history. The room features pine paneling, large windows overlooking the lake, and a beautiful stone fire place.
Accommodations Manager, Linda Thompson said the dining room is a very special place and makes for an extremely romantic setting during Valentine’s Day.
“You can be in our dining room and it can be absolutely full of people and you can feel like the only person in there,” she said.
The first Valentine’s Day dinner is on February 10th and will feature live music from Nicole Craig. The second dinner is on February 14th and will feature a live performance from Lauren McFarlan. Tickets are $49.95 a person and can be purchased at the event.
Linda and Jason encourage everyone in the area to give the resort a visit. It is located on 26 Country Club Drive in the Kawartha Lakes and is open year-round.
“It’s a great opportunity, especially being so close. Have a nice romantic getaway, escape from Port Perry and your everyday live,” Jason said.
