SCUGOG: Scugog council is expected to discuss a motion for an an expense audit of all councillors and Township senior staff in March.
At a meeting on Monday, February 12th, under the new business section of the meeting, Ward 3 Councillor Don Kett announced his intention to bring forward a motion at the next council meeting for council to consider this expense audit.
Councillor Kett said his goal with this audit is to make sure the Township’s “house is clean.”
“I think it would be prudent for this council to consider doing an audit of the expenses of council, senior staff, boards and committees as has been previously suggested,” he said.
Following concerns from former councillor Howard Danson regarding Councillor Kett’s expense disclosure reports, council decided in December to have the Township’s finance department compile all of Councillor Kett’s expense records from the start of his term to the present time and bring them to Mayor Rowett for him to review.
