SCUGOG: Local residents will be able to hear from candidates in the upcoming federal election next week, when the Scugog Chamber of Commerce hosts an all-candidates forum on Sept. 16.
The debate will run from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Scugog Community Centre, located at 1655 Reach St.
Throughout the evening, candidates from Durham riding will answer pre-vetted questions submitted by local residents, as well as the Scugog business community. Candidates will also have the chance to address their party platforms by making opening and closing remarks. Candidates Erin O’Toole (Conservative), Corinna Traill (Liberal), Derek Spence (NDP) and Andrew Moriarity (Christian Heritage Party) are all slated to appear, with Bill Eull serving as moderator.
Those interested in submitting a question can do so through the chamber’s web site, www.scugogchamber.ca, or by picking up a form at 237 Queen St., in downtown Port Perry. The deadline for questions is Friday, Sept. 11. The Chamber adds that questions can either be directed to all of the candidates or a specific candidate.
