UXBRIDGE: The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) released the results of it’s annual on-line poll of Ontario’s Worst Roads and two roads in Uxbridge ranked in the top 3 of the Halton, Peel, Durham, and York Region category.
Zephyr Rd. came in third place and Cedar St. North ranked number one. Zephyr Rd. is a Regional Rd. which is maintained by Durham Region, but it was Cedar St. North that took both local staff and politicians by surprise.
Uxbridge Mayor, Gerri Lynn O’Connor told The Standard she doesn’t know why Cedar St. would be featured on the list.
“Have you ever driven down Cedar street? There is nothing wrong with it,” said the Mayor.
The Director of Public Works and Operations for Uxbridge, Ben Kester, was also surprised by the results.
“I am skeptical of the results,” said Mr. Kester, maintaining there is nothing wrong with the road.
The CAA Worst Roads List is an on-line poll, which allows the public to vote for what they believe to be the worst roads in the Province. County Rd. 49, in Prince Edward County was voted the worst road in Ontario. For more information or to take a look at the full list go to www.caaworstroads.com.
