UXBRIDGE: A new healthy food option will soon be launching in Uxbridge.
Brown Bag It is a business that operates like a gym membership, where people can sign up for a subscription for as short as a week, and receive home cooked and affordable lunches or meals. When people sign up at the website at www.brownbagitmeals.com, they will be able to personalize the number of meals they will receive, and can choose from the many menu options. Brown Bag It is also willing to accommodate anyone’s dietary restrictions.
Once the orders are complete, people can either pick them up at 57 Main St., or can have them delivered. Once the subscription is up, if they are satisfied, people can choose to renew. There is also an option for automatic renewal.
The business is owned by local residents Michelle and Stephanie-Lynn Ott, with help from Chance and Brandon Ott.
“We would all like to make delicious home made meals to save money and eat well, but we don't all have the time to do it,” said Stephanie-Lynn.“ The idea behind Brown Bag It is to give people that experience without taking that 30 to 60 minutes out of their day to do it."
Michelle said they have one goal for this business.
"Ultimately we just want people to enjoy life and enjoy good healthy food,” she said.
Chance said this business will benefit many niche markets.
“We think it is going to be best for young families with young kids who don’t want to feed their kids junk food every day, and it will be good for seniors as well,” he said.
Adding to the list, he also said this business will be good for people in their 20s who don’t yet know how to make a healthy home cooked meal. Chance also wanted to stress that this is a local business.
“All of us are born and raised in Uxbridge. It’s home and we want to service our community,” he said.
Brown Bag It has several meal package options, with people being able to sign up for one week, four weeks, 12 weeks and 24 weeks; and the prices are lower per longer term subscription. Chance said Brown Bag It offers reasonable meal prices.
“You look at what your average individual spends on lunch, that could be $10 or $15 per day. Our meals are cheaper than that, and they are healthy, home cooked meals,” he said.
The business will be launching on Monday, Aug. 29. They will also have a booth at the upcoming Uxbridge Fall Fair. For more information on Brown Bag It, head to their website.
