SCUGOG: The Auxiliary to Lakeridge Health Port Perry is once again looking for participants for their annual charitable polar plunge taking place next month.
The 10th annual dip in icy Lake Scugog will take place on Saturday, February 4th, at 2 p.m., in Palmer Park, as part of 'Feb Fest'.
All proceeds from the event will go towards purchasing new equipment for the hospital. Last year, the plunge raised a total of $26,757, and 55 plungers participated. In past years, the auxiliary has used the event to raise funds for their $350,000 commitment to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation’s 'Your Hospital, Your Future' campaign.
Using a pledge sheet, which people can get by emailing email@example.com, or by phoning Ruth at 905-985-6232, to sign up, people can begin collecting pledges and forming their teams.
A minimum $100 pledge per person for groups of 4 or more is required. Individual Plungers need to raise at least $200 in pledges.
The registration tent opens at 1 p.m., on the day of the event. Food and awards will follow after the plunge.
Participants are encouraged to create a 'fun and fabulous' costume.
People can also sponsor a plunger, if they would like to contribute in a different way.
