CRAIG SCHROTER Special to The Standard
KAWARTHA LAKES: The Lindsay Muskies were back in Toronto Saturday night to take on the Patriots and played an exciting game, but two late goals gave the Toronto squad a 4 to 0 victory.
The two teams played an evenly matched, fast paced first period, with the only goal going to Toronto at the 16:59 mark. Brett Bannister scored the goal beating Tyler Richardson from the bottom of the face off circle, with the assists going to Lee Lapid and Dante Spagnuolo.
In the second period there was no scoring due in large part to the play of Richardson in the Lindsay goal, as he made 24 saves in that period alone.
In the third period the Muskies looked to get even with an early power play, but it was Bannister who took advantage of a loose puck at the side of the Lindsay goal for a tap in short handed goal at 2:33. The Muskies continued to press to get back into the match, but at 15:27, Josh Rettinger got the insurance marker from Nick Kalpouzos and Nick Mounouchos. At 16:39, Andrew Petrucci wrapped up the scoring from Michael Boushy and Oliver Benwell.
The Muskies are now off until Friday January 5th when they host Whitby.
