KAWARTHAS: The Newmarket Hurricanes got an early goal and that got them off to the start they needed, as they rolled on to a 7-1 victory over the Muskies, Sunday afternoon in Newmarket.
Alex Ierullo got the Hurricanes rolling with a goal just 42 seconds in, from Lyam Cripps and Christian Dedonato. The score stayed that way 'till the 10:44 mark, when Jackson Savery scored to make it 2-0, from Dimitri Mikrogiannakis and Ryan Hunt. Just under a minute later, Erich Roeder scored his 7th of the season at 11:26, from Cam Supryka and Noah Dollo.
In the second, the Hurricanes pulled away with three unanswered goals. Ierullo scored his 2nd of the game at 9:30, from Mikrogiannakis and Cripps. At 16:16, Owen Ramsay made it 4-1, from Sheldon and Ierullo, then at 18:21, Ierullo finished his hat trick from Cole Thiessen.
The Hurricanes added two more in the final frame. Hunt scored at 1:33, from Mikrogiannakis and Eric Eremita, and Savery rounded out the scoring at 8:35, from Eremita.
The next game for the Muskies is Monday night, when they take on the Cougars in Cobourg.
