DAN CEARNS The Standard
The Port Perry MoJacks defeated an alumni team from the Scugog Men’s Hockey League alumni by a score of 9-2 on Saturday, Jan. 23.
Scugog Arena was packed at the 5th annual fundraiser in support of the Port Perry Hospital Foundation and Operation Scugog. The event was the original idea of Stephen Connors, a local businessman as well as a former member of the MoJacks.
The MoJacks were looking for revenge, as they had dropped last year’s game to the alumni team by a close score of 4-3.
Following the contest, there was a dance held at the Community Centre, headlined by local band 3 Sheets to the Wind.
“It was another great night, and luckily we came out of the game without any injuries,” MoJacks head coach Clair Cornish told The Standard. “This game has always had great support from the community, and it’s a privilege for the MoJacks to be able to give back to these local causes.”
Through its first five years, the event has been quite successful, raising more than $20,000.
