Special to The Standard
The Lindsay Muskies were on the road for the final time this season on Sunday afternoon. A second period rally came up short as the Muskies eventually fell to the Kingston Voyageurs by a score of 5-2.
Danny Bosio got the home town Vees on the board first, when he beat Muskies goaltender Tyler Richardson at 5:12, from Cole Edwards and Austin Grzenia. The Vees held an 18-7 shot advantage in the first period, and at 12:35 they doubled their lead on a goal from Kyle Hallbauer. That goal was assissted by Josh Leblanc and Reid Russell.
Leblanc put Kingston up by three, just 46 seconds into the second period, when he scored a goal set up by Dorian Overland and Rob Clerc. Lindsay got things rolling shortly afterward, when Noah Dollo scored his 13th goal of his rookie season at 2:27. The goal was unassisted. Brock Traill scored a short handed goal, also his 13th at 8:04, from Cam Lamport and goaltender Tyler Richardson, to put the Muskies within one goal. That’s the way the second period would end.
In the third, it did not take long for Kingston to regain their two goal cushion, when Edwards scored at 1:11 from Grzenia and Bosio. The final goal came at 8:32, when Leblanc scored from Russell and Overland, wrapping up the 5-2 victory.
Zach Springer made 26 saves for the win for Kingston, while Richardson made 38 saves in the loss.
The next action for Lindsay is the season’s final game this Friday night, when they host St. Mike’s at the Lindsay Recreation Center.
