SCUGOG: Port Perry’s own Kiera Kuebeck and Griffin Tarasewicz both competed in this year’s Ontario Summer Games (OSG), which took place from August 11th to the14th, at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga.
Kiera won all five of her matches in the 57kg division to capture the Gold medal, which helped the Central-East regional team win the OSG team title for women's wrestling.
Griffin was also very successful, winning 4 of his 5 matches to earn a Silver medal in the mens 52kg division, which also helped the Central-East team win the OSG team title for men's wrestling.
For 15-year old, Kiera Kuebeck, the Gold medal continues her steady rise in wrestling. Last year, Kiera won gold at the Canada East Wrestling Championships, in Niagara Falls. She hopes to one day make the Olympic team and earn a medal for Canada.
Both wrestlers are part of Team Impact Wrestling Club and are coached by Robert Huggins.
The Ontario Summer Games are a showcase for amateur athletes. It first started in 1970 in Etobicoke.
