Fortunately for all, the weather forecast was wrong for much of the week. Here’s hoping the farmers were able to get on the land and planting. My garden is in and the Sunday rain was welcome.
A few birthday congratulations to go out this week. Jenny Van Maurik celebrated a week or so ago with the family. Bob Blackstock hit the big 65 this week, while Bryan Smith and Gloria Ewan also celebrated. Congratulations to them and anyone who celebrated anniversaries or birthdays.
Good news that Harry Johnson is back home after spending a few days in hospital.
Dwight Clements likes living dangerously, since last weekend he was rafting, backwards, in Elora Gorge, with his son and this week was canoeing, with daughter Rachel, in Massasauga Provincial Park. Either way they got wet!
On Saturday the legion Pipes and Drums spent several hours in Port Perry United Church, as they were taped to cut a CD. This is a fund-raising effort to provide money for the many new young recruits who need instruments and uniforms.
Friday Night at the Foster featured the Pine Ridge Chorus, who provided their usual classic performance. They had a busy weekend preparing food for their annual Tea Sunday afternoon and the Senior’s room was packed, mostly ladies, with a dotting of gents. A few from this area were in attendance. Congrats to Isabelle Smith who won the 50/50 draw! Next week at the Foster, Shauna Furois, a classical flautist, will enchant. Volunteers to assist these evenings would be welcome. If you would like to help, email Bev Northeast at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Our churches held birthday parties today, as it was the birth day of the Christian church, Pentecost! Everyone dressed in red, we had pinwheels, to show the breath of the spirit, waved fire-sticks, tossed petals and learned of the fruits of the spirit. Melinda Delorme and her beautiful music added to the feeling of energy, as we also served communion.
