On the past weekend, Thanksgiving celebrations were held by many in homes, at churches, wherever families and friends gathered. Here in Canada, we are blessed in so many ways, yet Food Bank patrons continue to grow in numbers, and need support.
Donations to the local Foodbank may be brought to church each Sunday in October. The box is in the narthex.
Sunday's service of Thanksgiving included the choir's anthem “All the Gifts of Love”, Pauline's Mission and Service talk about Kenya, and recently the Caribbean hurricane disaster, all of which are supported by M & S donations. Pauline noted that the twoonie ($2) collection of the past six weeks for M & S, will be collected on October 15th. To have a receipt, please mark your name on envelope.
Choir practice every Thursday, 7:30 p.m. includes a rehearsal for Advent 3, December 17th, Christmas concert. Guest singers are invited to join the first part of rehearsals, which will be devoted to the Cantata. Everyone from Greenbank and Seagrave United churches as well as the community is invited to join.
The Wednesday, October 11th, Kawartha Highlands, U.C.W. Fall Rally is at Minden United Church, at 9:30 a.m. with guest speaker Yvonne Heath.
Tuesday, October 24th, mid-week U.C.W. Event is hosted by Kawartha Highlands Presbyterial at Trinity United, Bobcaygeon. The theme is “And She said...” with guest speaker is Betty Turcott.
October 15th, 11 a.m., Greenbank Church service guest speaker is Darlene Hallet.
October 21st Greenbank Talent Auction is at the Church with auctioneer Carl Phoenix. Please call Kim regarding donations or inquiries 905-985-2522. Proceeds support church programs and upkeep.
October 22nd, after service, is a congregational meeting with the search committee report.
October 24th, 7:30 p.m. Official Board Meeting is at the Greenbank United Church.
October 29th is Greenbank Church's 121st anniversary, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Parker and guest speaker Gordon Taylor.
November 11th, 7:30 p.m. a concert a the church with “Freedom Bound” pianist Joan Wideman, and male quartet. Come and enjoy.
Congratulations to Quintin Baird and Michelle Gibney who were married in Oakville, on October 7th, 2017, at Walton United Church, with family and friends attending.
Murray and Shirley Lee celebrated their September 20th, 65th Wedding Anniversary, and Thanksgiving, on October 7th with their children, grandchildren and their 3 great-grandsons who were present from North Bay, Ottawa, and Greenbank.

Bethesda-Reach W.I. is hosting a Victorian Tea to celebrate 150 years of this country Canada, and 120 years of the Women's Institute. The “tea” will be at the Uxbridge Seniors Centre, Saturday, October 14th, from 2 to 4 p.m. This event will include guest Rosemary Oliver, a Fibre artist who uses recycled materials. W.I. former and present members, friends and neighbours, all are invited.
