Congratulations to Nicole Swain, a teacher of Biology and Environmental Studies at Brooklin High School who was awarded for going above and beyond, to teach kids about agriculture. She recently received the 2017 Agscape Teacher Recognition Award. Nicole and her husband Scott operate a beef and cash crop farming operation. Congratulations, Nicole.
The people of Blackstock United Church are busy getting ready for the annual Harvest Beef Supper, featuring local beef from the Swains, and vegetables from the Lintons, Supper will be served at the Rec Centre next Sunday September 24th, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
On Sunday afternoon, a good crowd of relatives and community members welcomed Baby Tate, and congratulated his parents Justin and Darcee Shinn, at a come and go baby shower, at the home of Magee VanCamp.
It is great to report that Margaret Mountjoy has returned from hip surgery.
What a delightful afternoon I enjoyed on Saturday afternoon, when the students of Brooklin Public School from 1963 to 64 gathered for a reunion at Brooklin Pub, with me as their teacher. Many of us had not seen each other for over 50 years.
On Sunday evening, Sarah and Brennan Malcolm returned from an enjoyable, and very busy, two week trip to Italy.
The winners at the card party were: Diane Norton and Diane Slute in first, Pat Allemong in second, Shirley Oldfield and Marg Cayer in third, Alma Manns in fourth, Hazel Coates in fifth. Low: Audrey Middleton. Most lone hands: Phil Sibbert.
