UXBRIDGE: It's the annual Uxbridge Juried Arts Show!
Once again, the Uxbridge Celebration of the Arts is pleased to present this event, which will take place from Tuesday, September 19th to Sunday, September 24th in the Uxbridge council chambers.
For the first time, the 'distance from Uxbridge' requirement has been dropped; artists from anywhere are welcome to enter. Dates to note are Saturday, July 29th, which is when submissions are due. Those whose artwork is selected to be in the competition will be notified by Friday, August 4th. Ten cash awards will be presented, ranging from $50 for Honourable Mention to $250 for Juror's Choice.
This well-loved multi-discipline art exhibition showcases the richness of the artistic talent found in and around the Township of Uxbridge. Artists benefit from having their work evaluated by prominent jurors, while it is displayed at the beautiful council chambers. In addition, hundreds of people will visit the show, so the exposure and opportunity to sell work is remarkable.
This year's prestigious Jury consists of Patrick Macaulay, Director/Curator of Harbourfront Galleries in Toronto; Susan Campbell; Sessional Instructor at Toronto's OCAD University, and teacher of Graphic Design at Durham College; and photographer Deborah de Ville, who holds a Masters of Photographic Arts from the Professional Photographers of Canada and owns a studio in Uxbridge.
According to show organizer Rich Helms, "We are already receiving entries, which is quite exciting. Last year, we introduced a show catalogue, which was a real hit, and this year, we will expand on that publication. I encourage artists to enter. It's interesting and a lot of fun."
