DAN CEARNS The Standard
SCUGOG: The Township of Scugog has announced the headline acts for the music festival which will celebrate Canada’s 150th at the fairgrounds, from Friday, June 30 until Sunday, July 2nd.
On Friday, June 30th, Big Wreck, The Pick Brothers Band and The Bomb will perform at the festival, which has now been named the ‘Scugog Summer Jam.’ On Saturday, July 1, Juno nominated artist Aaron Pritchett, as well as Brooklyn Roebuck and Marshall Dane will perform. On Sunday, according to the Township, the event will feature “more local live entertainment and special events.”
On both Friday and Saturday the gates will open at 4 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the gate, or people can buy a combined ticket for the Friday and Saturday for $60. They can be bought online, at www.ticketfly.com, or at Vos Independent in Port Perry.
“I think the lineup is fantastic,” Mayor Tom Rowett said. “From the sense that I am getting, the community is rather excited to see such big names coming to play here in Scugog and that this is the beginning in the inaugural event, for what we hope is going to be an annually reoccurring festival that will bring other bands, targeting different demographics, and ultimately the proceeds are to help fund youth initiatives.”
At a special council meeting in March, councillors approved a recommendation to endorse a draft budget for the event, agreeing to fund up to $275,351 for it.
