UXBRIDGE: The race is officially on in the Ward 3 byelection.
Nominations opened on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and six local residents have already filed paperwork to fill the seat, which has been vacant since the sudden and tragic death of former Councillor Pat Mikuse in July.
Those currently vying for the position include Gord Baxter, Ted Eng, Dave Granic, John Haddock, Lynn Klages, and Bev Northeast.
The deadline for filing nomination papers is 2 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 9. The byelection will be held using mail-in ballots, which must be returned to the municipality - either in-person or through Canada Post by Nov. 23. The township’s Clerks Department has said that Ward 3 residents can expect to see ballots in the mail early in November.
Candidates do not need to live in Ward 3 in order to run in the election. For more information on the upcoming byelection, please visit the township’s web site at www.town.uxbridge.on.ca.
