SCUGOG: The 1st Port Perry Scouts are inviting the public to an event, being held next weekend, to celebrate Canada’s 150th and the 150 good deeds performed by scout members.
The event will be held at the Scout Hall in Port Perry. There will be an open house, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Kids outdoor activities will run, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., and there will be a campfire for everyone, from 7 p.m. until 8:15 p.m.
The youth, and the leaders involved in the scouting program, began the 150 good deeds initiative last fall.
“We decided for Canada’s 150th birthday, we would do 150 good deeds,” Ellen Greenough told The Standard. “I think it is good at a young age to learn to do good deeds for other people. The sooner they learn, it is good to give back, the better.”
Ms. Greenough estimates there are currently 130 youth, and around 30 to 35 adults, involved in the 1st Port Perry Scouts.
The Port Perry Scout Hall is located at 15585 Simcoe St. North.
