SCUGOG: The annual Durham Ride for Dad fundraiser will be rolling back into Port Perry on Saturday, June 11.
This will be the fifth time that the fundraiser for Prostate Cancer has used the Scugog Community and Recreation Centre as a venue.
“They really work well with us on ride day. Anything we ask for, they always help us out” Lou Ann Young, Executive Chair of the Durham Chapter of the ride, told Scugog Councillors on Monday, May 30.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the opening ceremony of the event will take place at 9:30 a.m. Following the ceremony, the participants will ride through Port Perry at 10 a.m., and then set off on an over 200 km journey.
“Last year we had almost 350 motorcycles, so we are hoping for the same again this year,” Ms. Young said.
At around 2:45 p.m. there will be a barbecue, as well as live entertainment and a show and shine. The Durham Chapter has raised about $307,000 since the ride started in the region.
