NORTH DURHAM: For many local residents, the new year has brought resolutions to stop smoking. To help smokers on the journey to better health, Medical Associates of Port Perry will be hosting two events during this month.
The smoking cessation group program will meet on Monday, Jan. 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Medical Associates of Port Perry at 462 Paxton St, in Boardroom Suite B06.
There is no fee to attend this session, which offers assistance with smoking cessation goals, provides evidence-based information on how to quit smoking and can help those in attendance develop customized quitting plans, including no-charge aids, such as gum or patches.
Those interested in attending or needing more information should call the North Durham Family Health Team in Suite 205, by calling 905-985-2895, ext. 6070 or visiting www.portperrymedical.ca.
As well, on Wednesday, Jan. 20, Medical Associates will be hosting Trash the Ash - Smoking Cessation Education Day, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Those interested in quitting smoking can join the North Durham Family Health Team throughout the day in the Main Lobby for refreshments and meet with Smoking Cessation Counsellors to find out services available that can help you quit smoking. The day will feature resources, free give-aways and more.
